Meet Heddy

The snowy owl of aitutors.me — your question-answerer on the website, and your child's companion in the web tutor.

  3. What Heddy never does
  4. A note on the name

Heddy is the snowy owl you'll see all over aitutors.me. She isn't one of the tutors — she's the school's front-of-house: the one who answers your questions on the website, and the character your child collects for, dresses up, and climbs the Ladder with.

One thing to be clear about up front: Heddy is not a tutor and not a crisis service. The real Socratic lessons happen with Mentor and the professors; and if a child is ever in distress, the tutors point to a parent or Childline (0800 1111) — never to a chat window.

Heddy on the website — ask her anything about aitutors.me

The chat bubble in the corner of every page (and the full page at aitutors.me/ask) is Heddy the concierge. Ask her about:

  • Pricing and plans — what's included, what things cost
  • Safety and privacy — how conversations are handled, the safeguarding rules
  • How it works — subjects, the tutors, connecting to Claude, the Learning Genius quiz
  • Your account — if you're signed in, she can tell you whether your connector is active and when your trial ends

She answers only from what we publish — she won't invent prices or features — and when a question is beyond her, she'll say so and point you to hello@aitutors.me. Like any AI assistant, she can be wrong; for anything important, the docs and a human have the final word.

Heddy in the web tutor — your child's companion

In the web tutor (aitutors.me/tutor), the My Heddy room is where your child's own Heddy lives:

  • She wears what your child earns — the scarf, the graduation cap, the wizard hat — and perches in whatever scene they've chosen.
  • She's the face of the Heddy points system: the seven-owl Ladder climbs from Elf Owl all the way up to Heddy's Own, a title she awards personally.
  • At the end of a good tutoring session, the tutor passes on her congratulations — one warm sentence, never a fanfare.

What Heddy never does

  • Teach lessons in chat. If you ask her to explain fractions, she'll warmly point you to the real tutors instead.
  • Handle a crisis. Any sign of distress gets one response: talk to a parent, or call Childline on 0800 1111.
  • Guess. No invented prices, no invented features — unknown means "ask a human".

A note on the name

You'll see "Heddy" in several places — the website chat, the points system, your child's dress-up owl. It's all the same character wearing different hats (sometimes literally), but the systems behind them are separate: the website concierge can't see tutoring conversations, and the tutors don't answer website questions.
