Connect on Claude Desktop

If you already added the connector on Claude.ai (web), it syncs to Desktop automatically. For first-time Desktop setup, follow these steps.

Often nothing to do

Connectors are account-level — they follow your Claude account, not a single device. If you already added the aitutors.me tutors connector on Claude.ai (web), it is already here. Open Claude Desktop signed into the same Claude account and the tutors will appear. Give it a minute to sync; if they do not appear, sign out and back in on the desktop app.

If you are starting on Desktop

If you have not added the connector on the web yet, you can add it directly in Claude Desktop using the same values.

  1. Open Claude Desktop and go to Settings → Connectors.

  2. Click Add custom connector (or the equivalent option your version shows).

  3. Enter these values:

    Name

    aitutors.me tutors

    Server URL

    https://aitutors.me/mcp

  4. If Advanced settings shows OAuth Client ID and Client Secret fields, leave both empty — Claude sets this up with aitutors.me itself. (Until August 2026 this step required pasting a personal Client ID; it no longer does.)

  5. Click Add. A browser window opens for the sign-in step — if you are already signed into aitutors.me in that browser, it completes automatically with no separate approval page. If you are not, open aitutors.me/install there, sign in, and then try again.

Once connected, open a new chat. The aitutors.me tutors connector should appear with the full toolset (42 tools as of August 2026).

Added the tutors before?

Claude allows one connector per address. If you see "A server with this URL already exists", delete the old aitutors.me connector first, then add it again.

Advanced / Legacy

Set up before June 2026?

If you connected the tutors before June 2026 using a config file and mcp-remote, please migrate: the old per-tutor URLs (/mcp/mentor and /mcp/professor-pi) were retired on 2026-07-26 — everything now lives at the single combined address https://aitutors.me/mcp.

To switch, remove the two old entries from your Claude Desktop config file (Settings → Developer → Edit Config), then follow the Claude.ai web steps — one click, no values to paste, and it fits a free Claude account (one connector slot). If Claude says "A server with this URL already exists", delete the old connector entry first.
