Connect in Claude Code or Codex

If you already work in Claude Code or Codex, you do not need the click-through guides — the tutors are an MCP server and both CLIs can add one from a single command.

This page is for a parent who is also a developer. If that is not you, use Claude or ChatGPT instead; nothing here unlocks anything the other hosts do not have.

Claude Code

claude mcp add --transport http --scope user aitutors https://aitutors.me/mcp

Then run /mcp and choose Authenticate. The browser sign-in is yours to do — an agent cannot do it for you.

Codex

The second command opens the sign-in page itself.

Nothing to paste

There is no API key, Client ID or Client Secret anywhere in this flow — our server registers your client itself. If a guide tells you to paste a Client ID, you are reading the Claude connector instructions, where it is required.

Adding this server does not touch any other MCP server you have configured.

Let your agent do it

If you would rather not type the commands, /agent-setup carries a prompt you can paste into either CLI. The agent adds the server, opens your browser once to sign in, and lists the tutors' tools back to you so you can see it worked.

What you get

The same faculty, the same seats, the same safety rules as every other host — Mentor plus a specialist tutor per KS3 subject your child holds a seat for. Seat and billing changes take effect on the next tool call, so removing a subject in your dashboard applies immediately without re-authenticating.

If it does not work

• Session not found or a hanging call — sign in again; the access token lasts 24 hours and the CLI does not always say so out loud.
• A subject is refused — that child has no seat for it. See choosing subjects per child.
• The command is not recognised — update the CLI; both tools have changed their MCP syntax before.
