aitutors.meAbout · the founder

Built by a parent. For other parents.

aitutors.me is an indie product. One founder. Built first for a single Year 8 student — my own daughter — then opened up to the first 100 families who saw it and wanted in.

The founder

I'm Jason. UK-based. I've been building software products for about fifteen years — most recently in AI and developer tools. I am not an ed-tech veteran. I am a parent who got annoyed enough at the state of AI homework helpers that I built a better one.

My daughter is in Year 8 at a UK independent day school. She's an avid reader, plays piano at Grade 7, runs cross-country, and learns Spanish and Latin. She's also, like most kids her age, occasionally exhausted by 9pm on a Thursday — and that's exactly the moment generic AI tools fail her.

02

Why this exists

When ChatGPT became free for kids, my daughter figured out it would do her homework. Maths grades went up; understanding went down. I shut that down within a week. But the underlying problem stayed: she needed a real tutor available at 9pm on a Thursday, and £40-an-hour human tutors don't work that way.

So I built one. Then I realised the things that made it work for her — refusing to give answers, running a Socratic hint ladder, gating sessions by her actual energy that evening — would probably work for other people's children too. That's the product you're looking at.

03

The principles I won't compromise on

Three commitments that aren't marketing copy — they're structural in how the tutors are built:

  • The tutors refuse to give the answer. Five different ways to ask "just tell me 3(x+4)" all return a Level-2 concept hint, never the answer. Read why.
  • Sleep beats sessions. If a child says they're red-energy, the Mentor refuses to route them to tutoring. We'll suggest a rest, an early night. Tutoring through exhaustion is counter-productive.
  • The parent controls the data. Per-session retention. One-click delete. No model training. UK-region storage. The dashboard shows everything the tutor saw.

How to reach me

Email hello@aitutors.me — I read everything and reply within 48 hours, Mon–Fri. For the first 100 founding members, I'll also do a 15-min setup call on Zoom if email's slower than helpful.

I'm honest about what aitutors.me is and isn't. If it doesn't fit your child, the 14-day trial means you walk away without a charge.
