Connect in ChatGPT
Add the tutors to ChatGPT as a plugin — four steps on a computer, for families who already pay for ChatGPT.
If your household already pays for ChatGPT, the same tutors can run there — you do not need a second AI subscription. You still need an aitutors.me subscription; that is what the tutors run on.
Claude is what we build and test on first. This page exists so that a family already paying for ChatGPT need not switch. If you have no strong preference, use Claude instead.
Check three things first
Plugins are not available everywhere in ChatGPT, and the three constraints below are the reason most setups stall before they begin.
| On a computer | ChatGPT on the web, or the desktop app. |
| Not on a phone | The mobile app cannot add plugins at all. |
| Not the Chat tab | All of this lives under Work. |
Where the menus live keeps moving
OpenAI has moved this more than once — it used to sit under a Connectors menu that no longer exists. If a step below does not match what you see, the setting has probably moved again rather than anything being wrong with your subscription.
The four steps
Words in bold are exactly what ChatGPT calls things on screen.
- Switch to Work. There is a Chat / Work switcher at the top of the window. Plugins only exist under Work.
- Turn on Developer mode. Settings → Security and login. Not under Connectors — that menu has gone.
- Open Plugins and press +. Developer mode adds a Plugins page; the + starts a new one.
- Fill in three things. A name and description of your choosing, then our address under Connection:
https://aitutors.me/mcp
Create the connection, look over the tutors it finds, and sign in when asked. Signing in is how the tutors know which subscription is yours — there is nothing extra to pay for.
This is the opposite of the Claude setup
If the form offers Client ID or Client Secret, leave both blank. Our server registers ChatGPT itself.
That is the reverse of Claude's connector, where the Client ID is required and leaving it out is the single most common failure. Same tutors, two genuinely different forms — do not copy your Claude settings across.
What you get
The same faculty as everywhere else: Mentor for the wellbeing check and routing, plus a specialist tutor for each KS3 subject your child holds a seat for. Seats, billing and safety settings are shared — you manage them once, in your dashboard, whichever host you use.
If it does not work
- No Developer mode setting at all — which ChatGPT plans have it, and where, keeps changing. That is the likely cause rather than anything at our end.
- The tutors refuse a subject — you are signed in, but that child has no seat for it. See choosing subjects per child.
- Nothing appears after you press Create — check the address has no trailing slash or space.
