Jekyll and Hyde: Dr Jekyll

你需要知道的

• Jekyll first appears as a respected, kind and wealthy Victorian gentleman.
• In his final statement he admits hiding youthful 'irregularities' with a 'morbid sense of shame'.
• Jekyll is not wholly good: he wanted a way to indulge hidden desires, so the potion released Hyde.
• He gradually loses control as Hyde appears unbidden, and his promise that he can be rid of Hyde echoes an addict's denial.
