The honest limits
We would rather say this plainly than have you find it out.
- Cards will not teach your child to see a problem. That comes from meeting a lot of unfamiliar problems, which is what sitting a paper and running a twelve-minute sprint are for.
- A perfect deck is not a prepared child. Fluency with the ideas removes friction. It does not supply insight.
- Cards cannot tell you how your child will do. Nothing here does. There is no readiness score, no percentile and no predicted grade anywhere in the product, and a deck that felt easy last night is not evidence about a Thursday morning in the spring.
- Volume is not the metric. Ten minutes of cards that keep returning beats an hour of cards seen once.
How to use them in practice
- Let the room lead you there. Open the practice room, pick Junior or Intermediate, and use its own "Cards for this" row — that way the deck is already the right competition's.
- Keep the sessions short and regular. Spaced repetition rewards frequency over length. A few minutes most days does more than a long session on Sunday.
- Follow the mistakes. When the clinic offers the card that treats a named mistake, take it. Those are the cards that were earned rather than guessed.
- Do not let cards replace papers. If a week has only room for one thing, sit a paper or run a sprint. Cards support that work; they do not substitute for it.
