Acceleration: speeding up, slowing down

Acceleration: speeding up, slowing downFree3:21Heddy Score 3 of 7, below the standard

What you need to know

  • A toy car is pulled along a bench by a string over a pulley attached to a hanging mass, whose weight provides the force.
  • Recording on a phone and playing it back gives accurate times at each distance marker.
  • To test the effect of force, mass is moved from the hanging end onto the car so the total mass stays the same.
  • Acceleration is proportional to the resultant force and inversely proportional to the mass.
