What is aitutors.me?

aitutors.me is an AI tutoring service for UK families with children in Key Stage 3, aged 11 to 14. Eight named tutors — a wellbeing Mentor and seven subject professors — teach by Socratic questioning and never hand over the final answer. Parents can see every session, and a sign of distress stops the tutoring and points the child to Childline. Free to try; PRO costs £120 a month per subject, per child — or less when you pay by the four-month term.

01Will my child cheat with this?

Not the way they cheat with a general AI. Ask Pi directly and it reflects the question back and starts a four-rung hint ladder. Rung four is a fully worked example of a similar problem, and then your child redoes their own. The tutor never prints the answer to the question in front of them, so there is nothing to copy.

02What about data privacy and UK GDPR?

We are ICO registered. Conversations are stored in a UK-region database with parent-controlled retention. We never use them to train models. You can export or delete everything from your dashboard.

03Do I need a Claude subscription?

No. The tutors run in your browser at aitutors.me/study with nothing to install. If your household already uses Claude, ChatGPT or Codex, the same tutors can run inside it instead.

04Is this for kids who are falling behind?

Either end. The hint ladder helps a child who is stuck, and the same tutors stretch a child who is ahead: the ladder simply starts higher. The energy check gives an anxious high-achiever permission to rest.

05Does it follow the UK national curriculum?

Yes. Seven KS3 subjects are open across Years 7 to 9, taught against our published KS3 map, which you can read at /ks3 without an account. GCSE flashcards are in the product; GCSE tutoring is not yet.

06Can I see what my child has been working on?

Yes. Your dashboard shows every session: subject, length, topic, the energy read Mentor took at the start. You see what the tutor saw.

07What if my child mentions struggling?

The tutors listen, then signpost to a trusted adult and to Childline (0800 1111). On any safeguarding indicator the session pauses and we email you within the hour.

08How do I cancel?

One click in the Stripe customer portal, linked at the top of your dashboard. Paid plans cancel at the end of the period already billed, no penalty.

09What if my child just wants to chat instead of studying?

The tutor bridges first: the interest becomes a tiny activity, so football becomes a lesson on averages. If your child really does not want to learn, it winds down warmly and logs a rest day you can see in your dashboard.

10Could it become an AI “friend” my child talks to for hours?

No. It is a tutor, and sessions are bounded: it bridges into learning or it winds down. If a child signals real distress it gives the Childline message (0800 1111), points them to a trusted adult, and emails you within the hour.
